Hi All,

I picked up 2 empty older steel sodastream bottles off e-bay and a reg.

The setup in the pic below is from a photo I found from the net, and has adaptors in it. ITS NOT MY SETUP :)

The brass collar in the red circle already exists on the bottles, and screws directly into the reg no worries.
Before I buy one, Is the adaptor necessary? I assumed it was meant to adapt the screw on the bottle to the screw on the Reg, but this doesn't seem to be the case, which begs the question.. What purpose does it serve?

Also, are there places in Brisbane that will refill the older sodastream bottles? Or did I waste my money?

The top of the SodaStream bottle contains a pin valve. The fitting on the regulator doesn't have the required bump to open the valve so no gas will flow.

The adaptor mates with the pin valve fitting and lets the CO2 through.

Cheers,
Matt (a happy sodastream adaptor owner)

Thanks MattSR, that's exactly what I wanted to know.

So I'd be better off trying to swap the steel bottles for the new aluminium ones from BigW instead of trying to find a place to refill them? Do the aluminium ones have that Brass Collar already?

Does anyone here use the steel SS bottles still?
