Just checking on a brew bottled about 12 days ago. Picked up a bottle and turned it upside down and gave it a swirl. Noticed the usual whitish trub float down but there was about six small black blobs. About the size of a small tadpole. Any ideas what it is? It is a kit brew. Coopers pale ale. Light dry malt, dry hopped with Wai-Iti hops. Cheers again lads.

Is it in all bottles and how clean were they?

Not sure. Soaked in perc/Met. Rinsed with star San

I thought maybe the hops grott? I'll check some more tonight

First question that comes to mind is why would you turn a bottle upside down and swirl? You want that stuff to stay on the bottom (unless you are a Croweater that drinks CPA).

I'd bet your swimmers are hops but the best thing to do is crack it open and pour into a glass so you can have a decent look at it (assuming your bottles are brown or green and not clear). Have a taste- see if it is producing off flavours. If you still cant work it out take a photo and post up here.

I swirl one sometimes to check if the dextrose added at bottling is turning into trub or still fine and granular. Not before drinking it.

Did you dry hop commando style? Some hop particles can make there way to the bottle / keg if so. Nothing to worry about if that's the case.

Yeah. Straight in the fermenter. Is that commando style?

Drinking some now. I reckon you lads are right. Small bits of hops. Tastes fine. Wai-Iti hops are nice. :)
