Has anyone tryed to make a single malt beer? ie Just the base malt, hop & yeast. If so what type did u make and how did it turn out?

Maris Otter and Tas whole Goldings

Brillliant!

Worked out a recipe, then added an extra kilo MO, sparged the usual amount, rich malt flavor!

Jovial Monk

just made an ale (last monday) using joe white ale malt and some various hops (POR,saaz,hallerauter-sp), not bad so far.

I brewed one yesterday - Joe White Pale Ale + Cascade
Won't know for a couple of weeks what it's like though.

Pale ale

Joe White pale malt
EK Goldings hops
Wyeast 1056 American
primed with wheat DME

Been in the bottle a week. I tried one last night & although still a little flat it was coming along nicely.

IPA

Maris Otter
Challenger hops
Nottingham yeast

Final ABV 7.5%

Not touching this for at least 3 months.
Will post back when I drink it.

There is an imported beer called Golden Ale.

It is english and the label states Single Malt.

It is made from just Golden Promise Malt - extremely nice.
Will look at trying to clone this later on...

if you find it - buy it - it will give you an idea of single malt brews.

Hope this Helps.
