Has anyone ever done a single 60min hop addition beer? I am planning a premium Pilsner (Bohemian style) and was wondering if a single addition of 160g of Saaz at 60mins would work? I have been doing 60/40/20 with great results but wanted to take it one or two steps further.

Depends on what you prefer. You can go with one bittering addition @ 60 minutes if you want more malt flavour & sweetnes, or you can try one huge addition at 20 minutes for a something different. Lots of hop flavour and some aroma that way, but bitterness, particularly in the aftertaste, should be lower.

My german Pils won best pale lager at Bitter and Twisted 07 uses hops just at 60mins and Flame out and I love it. It works for Hallertau i assume it would be the same for saaz. I use promash and it doesn't give any IBU extraction for FO hops but I always like to add about 2-5ibu for this. I definately prefer to leave out the 15 minute addition for this style. Which is weird for me cause I love hops. Having a american barleywine now... MMMMM hops

What sort of IBU were you shooting for?

Just one (compensated) addition late in the boil doesn't work so well with Boh Pilsners, in my experience.
If you use good Saaz (fresh or stored properly), you'd be surprised how much aroma you get from a single 60 minute boil addition, as it is low alpha and you use quite a lot of hops (in my 26L setup I use 100g of 3.5% alpha Saaz for 40 IBU).
The trick with pilsners, I find, is scrupulous sanitation and a good, slow fermentation, pitching cold.
I have heard people complain that even witha fair bit of saaz in late additions they can't taste it, and all I can say is: saaz is a smooth flavoured hop, it needs to be fresh, and without a clean, slow fermentation its flavour will be masked.

MFS.

a KILO?!

I like the cut of your jib.

One of my Boh Pils recipes only has a 60 minute addition (38IBUs Cz Saaz).

With low AA nobles, so much flavour gets carried through it hardly makes a difference. Also, the nose of a Boh Pils needs to be mainly malt, IMO. The beer is a very malt-driven Pils.

My Vienna lagers just have a 60 min addition / 90 min boil - around 120g Saaz - and the aroma and flavour are quite marked, nobody can believe they don't have late additions.

Agreed. I make a Boh Pils with just a 60min of Northern Brewer to 40-45IBU. Single 60min adds are the only beer I NC now.
To the OP, (of yesterday, not start of thread) late additions only of noble hops can lead to an unbalanced bitterness. It can work at say 45 mins, but 10mins is a bit risky IMO.
