I'm a big fan of what bright ale introduced to my palate, crossing citrus and floral hops together, using cascade and saaz! Love it, but i'm thinking of replacing the cascade with amarillo, has anyone else tried this? Haven't seen the two paired together before, so I plan on taking the dive, thats if nobody can turn me against a possibly horrid idea?!

PS. Just hada Rogues Yellow Snow IPA and it still feels like im chewin on Amarillo pellets hehehe (it's whats got me thinking)

By B saaz do you mean motueka??. If so, i love it, but i do think it would be better with some citrus. If i had amarillo, i'd definately be trying it. Let us know, and quickly before i run out!!

Check this one out... From the qabc 2008 results. Champion APA. On the scheduled list to brew soon. I'd say it's probably going to be good.

I tried dry hopping 30 grams of SAZZ and 15 grams of Amarillo into my keg of Coopers Pilsner. It came out a treat

, nice even balance citrusy flavour, but not over powering. It nearly tasted like Bluetongue Pilsner. Should try it!

Be a bit careful if you intend on dry hopping with either of these hops.
I've found Amarillo to be very much on the grassy side with dry additions, and B Saaz the slightest bit "sharp" in a grapefruit rind sort of way...not particularly pleasant.

I found that 2 days after dry hopping. I then left it for 10- 12 days and the grassy flavour and smell was pretty much non exisitant. I was left with a citrus flavour and floraly beer!!

+1 Philip

I use both in my APA's as does Sav and Mossy. They are great mates in a beer IMO. Try out Mossy's recipe for his APA it is a cracker!

Cant find mossy bloody recipe...

Ha, I do a OTT Summer Ale using those two hops, think I farmed out the recipe to Sqyre a while back. I've over due to brew another batch before winter arrives.

That's exactly how I would put it as well Muggs, I had a little fling with B Saaz that I got over very quickly. Defiantly not a hop in the latest additions for me, it not bad as a 20 min. type hop but it needs a back up to give it some sparkle.

Be good

I think they go really well together. In fact, I used them in a pale ale I brewed yesterday! It's bubbling away now and smells great :p
