Better than no post anyway.

+1 for wanting recipe DB to have mash schedules included.... :)

Mash schedules are very important, for example an Aussie Lager mashed at 62 for 2 hours and raised to mashout is a different beast from an English Mild mashed for 40 minutes at 72.

OP raises an interesting point, I've never had much luck with the AHB recipe DB, I'd rather see an option where, when you open a recipe, it contains a short description, a photo, then a link (edit: or just the text file itself) for either a BrewMate or BeerSmith recipe and leave the old recipe base as an archive. The current recipe DB is really trying to reinvent a wheel that's been crafted far better by third party software.

Outsource, I sez, outsource...

further edit: A photo should be compulsory, I bet a lot of the current recipes along the lines of Old Grampas False Teeth and Jockstrap Saison Hefe have never been brewed on this Planet in this Century.

Personally I think the other forum owned by the same organisation as this one has a better way to do recipes - just a series of sub forums for each major style category. Let people enter the recipes, ingredients, steps and notes themselves rather than trying to account for every possibility. As Bribie says, have the option to attach a recipe software file.

What's the point of having fields for entry of ingredients and steps if they're just going to be displayed as text? If it's going to allow scaling or searching by ingredients etc., then great, but if not then don't bother.

Most of all though get it done quickly, it's bordering on farcical that a home brew site of this size has no feature for new recipes to be submitted.

Another suggestion is to have the AABC and BJCP codes for the recipes as well, and some way to sort by them.

Call out to Admin ...can we get the recipes tab updated to include mash schedules, hops and additives.. The tab seems to be a waste if this is not done..
