Hi Wes,
thanks for the tip.
I had a hat with jayse about this a while back now and he talked me through it as much as possible re the information available on the Powells website.
eg here is their "Typical analysis" for ale malt.
Typical analysis
Moisture Content Extract Colour Kolbach Index D.P.
<3.5% >81% 4.0 6.0 42 - 46 160 - 200
Here is what I have entered into beersmith file.
Name: Powells Ale Malt (Powells Malt)
Type: Grain
Origin: Australia
Supplier: Powells Malt
Yield: 81.0 %
Potential: 1.037
Color: 5.0 EBC
Max in Batch: 100.0 %
Moisture: 3.5 %
Protein: 11.7 %
Coarse Fine Difference: 1.5 %
Diastatic Power: 120.0 %
and so on etc for the other malts. admittedly I only enetered the Yeild ,Potentiasl and color and moisture, nothing else.
any more tips would be apprecitaed but I can understand it may be hard without anybody seeing a Certificate of Analysis.
Hopefully this will get sorted as soon as possible seeing a lot of people are using their malts these days.
thanks for the tip.
