G'day all, I have made my first pilsner/lager over the weekend and have pitched a 2L starter of yeast straight off the stir plate last night. I pitched the starter into the wort which was already sitting on 10-12 degrees. Is this the right procedure or is it best to pitch at a higher temperature and slowly bring the temperature down knowing that some slight off flavours may be produced at the higher temperatures. I havn't even given this batch 24hrs to see if it is going to start cranking up but thought I'd put the question out anyway.

Cheers

You did good Dazzling.

Pitch at (or slightly lower) than your projected fermentation temps. May take a while to start, however you'll get a cleaner ferment.
