So I want to brew a partial stout using the can of Coopers Stout I have already, this is what I was thinking:

25L
1.7kg Coopers Stout
1kg Dark Sugar
1kg Ale malt
150g Roast Barley
150g Carafa I
15g EKG @ 15
15g EKG @ 0

OG 1.046
FG 1.011
IBU 39.2
EBC 110.2
ABV 4.8%

Just wondering if the Roast / Carafa additions will be too much with the Coopers kit...???

Cheers :)

Hey

I'm going to be doing something similar soon for a comp. Would be interested to see what advice people have to offer.

I want to intensify the roasted flavours a bit, as I'm a fan of the burnt/roasty taste in stouts. I want to add some outmeal as well to give it a silky body and head. The recipe I've been playing around with is a bit more heavy handed with the crystal/roast malts, having them at close to their max per batch percentage in beersmith.

Go for it. The OG looks a little low for those fermentables, but I have not used extract in a while. I suggest make it a bit larger with DME or grain, but that is a personal preference of mine.
