Just got a pale to mash and sparge in jsut wndering how you know if it is safe for liquids like wont leech bad stuff in water ??

There should be a code on your plastic pale....
If its a 2 or a 5 , you'll be fine in my humble opinion....Anything else is NO GOOD !

there is a post around here somewhere that mentions the leeching point for those plastics too, had a search but couldn't find it, maybe another member knows where it is??

Not the thread your after, but a quick wiki search found: the material in question "2" High-density polyethylene, HDPE can "can withstand temperatures (120 C/ 248 F for short periods, 110 C /230 F continuously)"
