Ordering From The States Question.

Howdy,

Looking on ordering a peice of equipment from homebrewstuff.com.. It'll be around $110~ AUS but i wasn't sure how it goes through customs..
do i have to pay extra when it hits Australia?
its one of theses.

There is a $1000 AUD limit before you are hit with GST etc

I have been looking at their website and there are quite a few things I'm thinking about ordering

Whilst I haven't used these guys, I order from overseas frequently. America, UK, China, never had any issues. Stuff ordered is perlick's, stainless fittings, temp controllers, hops, and heaps of other irrellevant stuff. I use PAYPAL as much as possible, and always check the postage. Most of the time it's pretty cheap.

I ordered a very similar list to you from these guys about 2 months ago and had no problems. Delivery was just a tad over 2 weeks from the time I placed the order which I was pretty happy with. I would use them again.

I'd say the main concern would be if you supply your details and the shipping turns out more than "estimated", say hypothetically $110, and then you get that taken off your card like it or lump it. Some Aussie suppliers do this anyway like GnG and Ezydvd so it's a common business practice.

Bribie: With Paypal they cant debit your card for more than you click agree too, but yes I've fired off an email to confirm that shipping price anyway.

If you dont already have one I would advise you chuck a faucet wrench or two on your order. Nothing more frustrating than getting it all set up and seeing precious beer leak out between the tap and shank when you go for your first pour

I think I ordered close to $500 including postage

They did send me the wrong tap handles (I'd ordered the fancy 5" ones)

I contacted them and they sent the correct ones - so I ended up with the wrong ones frees of charge

safer than buying from an Australian private sale on fleabay any day.

:icon_offtopic: Half my boat is from the US and Ebay - bought all sorts of systems and stuff over the last 4 years (including CAT engine parts - yes cheaper than here in Oz incl freight). The other half is cable ties and wire <_< . Drew and Nev don't worry .... As captain of the bada bing I have a clear policy of women and children first.
I had one problem with a US supplier - it was sorted quickly and I came out more than ahead. Paypal is the go .......
