hi all, im a new brewer and have a couple of issues if anyone can help. my first two brews (coopers kit&kilo) were primed correctly but tasted sort of flat. I was thinking it may have been caused by high brew temperature but could I be missing something?

also would there be any benifit to using 1kg dextrose and 500g light dry malt rather than 1kg coopers brew enhancer 2 for my next Aust Pale Ale can?
thanks for the help!

Not much info to go on regards flat taste.....
as for the Pale Ale, go for 1.5kg LDM or maybe 1kg LDM and 500 dex......would not use more dex than that.
1 box BE2 is a workable option. Depends what abv your after.

I used BE2 for this brew. I have only bottle conditioned for 2 wks maybe thats an issue.

could I use 1x aust pale can and 1x malt extract can, nothing else (yeast of course haha) if so what malt can? (I like a smooth full flavoured beer)

Use a light malt can, not the ultra. You could go an amber can for a bit more oomph.
Better to use tinned malt than the dry stuff and sugars if you can.

so how about 1x Aust pale ale can 1x coopers amber malt extract can and 500g dextrose as a simple tasty brew?

Sounds good to me.

If you really want tasty look into steeping and adding some hops for a bit extra flavour.
Cascade, SImcoe, Amarillo, Chinook all work well in an APA, or a bit of Galaxy for a more Aussie feel.

sounds great, thanks. I reckon ill get a good base this time. see what its like, then get into steeping and dry hopping for my next brew using the same base ingredients as this next brew then I can do direct comparisons between flavours etc.

thanks for the help!
