OK next question , I can now change my homepage BUT , when I log off and logon again I still get this search engine page I must have picked up when my firewall was down.
How do I delete that sucker
Thanks again

I'm no wizz but it sounds like it is still your home page. Does your home page come up when you press home? (I think this is what you said) If not it seems that there is a little program installing this home page for you. I hate these sites that install programs, I've had a few annoying ass programs go and hide on my computer and it took me ages to find out where they were hiding and uninstall them. Sounds like you may have picked up one of these programs- have you been accessing porn Batz?

Batz,
there is a free program called Spybot Search and Destroy. It cleans a lot of crap of your pc. Stuff like this that take over your homepage etc. If you do a search you will find it. Once installed run update and it will update the latest detection files onto your pc. Run it and let it find any crap on there. There is also an undo option in case it disables anything.
(usual disclaimer applies)
Good luck.

Run ad-aware (linked in my previous post), or the software that Johnno said, to make sure nothing is screwing around with you. As Justin said this is most prob your issue.

Just go into your "View" menu, then "Explorer Bar" and make sure that "search" is not ticked. (when this is enabled it opens up a search window in the left hand side of your screen). Not sure if this is what you might be talking about?

Have seen people PC's where porn sites will do this - but your antivirus software (and also adaware) would pick these up quickly.

Cheers
