Hi all,

I have just finished making a dark beer. The beer smith mobile app in which I used to make the recipe says the Starting gravity should be 1.041. It is at 23oC now and hydrometer reads 1.072....

Should I add more water to get the OG down? I have not pitched yeast yet. I do not want a massive alcohol content in this one....

Thoughts?
Recipe below
Thanks

Hi beercus

Did you mix everything up really well when you topped it up to 23L?

Also, have you tested the hyrdrometer in water to make sure it is accurate?

Cheers

Ok, yes I'm an amateur..... IDIOT...

just opened it up and gave it a good stir and it's now 1.042, just as beer smith said it should be.......

Live and learn...

I just hope it comes out ok in the end. This is my first go at making my own recipe. I had the choc and crystal already and made the formula around that.... See how we go....

Thanks Chromakey....
