Hi Everyone,

After lurking around this forum for quite a while now (and learning heaps BTW) I just had to post this.

I recently moved into a small 2 bedroom unit with my girlfriend and lucky for me she doesn't stand in the way of my hobbies/obsessions and lets me do all my brewing in the house. Anyway, last night I put down a Czech Pils (an ESB 3KG job) and put this into my fridge which I have just setup with a temp controller to ferment my lagers.

Because the door on the fridge won't shut properly unless the fermenter is raised off the bottom, I sat it on one of the shelves.....big mistake! About an hour ago I'm sitting on the lounge next to the frigde watching the tv when BANG CLANGA BING BANG I look to my right to see the fridge door fly open and 23 liters of Czech goodness come flying out.

I've honestly never moved so fast in my life and luckily not much went onto the carpet, just a bit that spewed out through the airlock.

So yeah, do you think this is going to have any major effect on the end result

Fermentation had only just started today, so I hope this isn't going to cause any problems. I since fixed the fridge up and now have some support under the shelf to stop this happening again (I hope).

Anywho, just thought I had to share this thought it would make for a good first post :) I plan to be having a go at my first partial in the comming weeks so I hope to be more active on the forums.

Cheers Guys

Lucky you were there to catch it. Your baby should be ok.

Thanks man, yeah lucky it happened when I was home or it would of been the end of me :p

Matybe the extra aeration/agitation will help kick the yeast into top gear.

Relax, don't worry about the beer, and get the carpet stain sorted or it might start smelling sour.

Seth :p

Crikey!!! that must be a "Kangaroo Lager" :p

Must have had Loads of "HOPS" in it hey? ;)

You'd better "JUMP" to it and put down another batch.

Cheers

I had a similar thing happen to my first brew. My lovely wife decided to walk into the garage and knock over my fermenter. Lost about 4 or 5 litres before she got it back upright. It turned out just fine. You have nothing to worry about.

p.s. I don't let her near my fermenters anymore thought :p
