i have made the muntons yorkshire bitter yet to taste it, what other muntons range beers are a must make muntons beer
your coments would be much appreciated cheers.
 
Haven't used Muntons kits at all... Keen to try an extract? Lots of options.... :)
Look like you've been brewing for a while.... give it a go... bitter it to taste, get some grains in there... :)
 
I started out doing Munton's kits. Nut Brown Ale, Export Stout and Traditional Bitter. They turned out pretty good but not as good as my extract brews which were to follow. I too recommend making the move to extracts over kits, you won't look back.
 
I've done a Newcastle Brown with the Newcastle Brown Kit converter from Brewcraft. Even using the kit yeast, it came out as a great beer. Give that one a try if you are into English beers.

As far as I understand the Muntons kits are very good quality and make some great beer.
 
Several months ago I used the Muntons Export stout kit as the basis for a brew that incorporated some specialty grains. Turned out supreb.
 
I really like the Muntons Irish style Mount Mellick Cram ale. I used 500g of LDM, 500g dex and 200 grams of crystal with some safeale 04, it is a very nice drop.
 
i've used the Yorkshire Bitter conneisseur kit and the Highland Heavy two can kit.

Happy with both.

I was told that the contents of the Brewcraft kits are made by Muntons.
 
the Irish Stout is pretty good. I make it to 20L with 1.5kg Amber LME and 250g choc-chit malt, notto yeast and only 1 carb drop carb to a longneck. Turns out very nice but needs at least a month in the bottle. I'll be doin a quick batch this weekend. :icon_cheers:
 
Because they come from the UK they are different in character to Coopers kits. However, being a 'specialist' line, be aware that they may have been hanging around a LHBS for a year or more. The only Muntons Kit I tried was one of the "Toucan" varieties, Best Bitter IIRC, and it turned out like bitter black molasses and was not a pleasant beer. I should have checked the best before date but I reckon it was well out of date.
Liquid malt extract darkens over time, and especially if kept in a hot Queensland Storeroom for months on end. This one was as black as the ace of spades.
I expect a fresh Muntons kit is fine, suggest check BB date and only buy from well run looking LHBS.
 
all my kits have been munton's , probably coz i like the uk beers.
The yrokshire bitter and the bock i can recommned, the continental lager was pretty average.

the LHBS was offering samples today of the new muntons super premium or something, a 2 can kit, was a golden ale or similar, and with a bag of cascade finsihing hops. Was a very very nice drink, but at NZD48 for a kit it would have to be, see lhbs site
 
Just use a Muntons premium lager to make a Leffe Blonde, only just bottled but tasted good from the fermenter, even went back for a second helping.
 
Nut Brown Ale is excellent, and the Yorkshire Bitter is one of the best kits around IMHO,
you will find that out soon enough. Any others tend to be very hard to find even in HBS.

Traditional Bitter makes a great kits n bits base as it's so bitter you bcan add heaps to it.

Looks like a nice recipe you've come up with there. If it's czech pilsener you're after I reckon you could add
a handful of Saaz hops, boiled with the spray malt for a couple of minutes to increase the aroma.

The Coopers dry malt I've used dissolves better when boiled, so may as well as a bit of hop as it boils.

I assume you can keep it cool at this time of year, otherwise the s23 will be wasted and may as well use the kit yeast.

Check the kit yeast, some good lager kits come with true lager yeast and will ferment well down to 12 deg C,
Coopers Plisener is one I know of and I would expect Muntons to also provide excellent yeast.

I got a Highly Commended at a beer comp for a Dark Ale and I was lazy and had used the Muntons yeast in it!
 
thank you for that wish i could take the credit but no its a idea from my LHBS.well keeping it cool is the problem at this time of year so maybe wait a week or 2 till it cools down
