Hi Guys

I am going over to Melbourne fora few days and I was wondering if anyone had any good brew pubs etc that they have been to in the CBD area.

Cheers

Depends what you're into mate

Melbourne has the best bar scene in Australia. Easily.
Huge variety & plenty of them.

For beer, there are two James Squire brew pubs. Fed Square's Transport or Beer De'Luxe. Plenty of others just outside of CBD.

If you just want a good old fashioned boozer, get into the Great Western on King St (CUB only). Probably the last country style pub in Melbourne CBD.

If you want to combine good old boozer with big screen sport. Get to the Charles Dickens hotel.

If you want a cool time with plenty of young things about, try St Jeromes, Section 8, Workshop, Cherry Bar, Ding Dong, Pony, etc etc

Plenty of bogus Irish pubs around as well

Word from the wise.
- Crown Casino is the most overated venue of all time, anywhere in the world. Dont go, ever. (IMHO)
- Stay off King St, except for the GW (or if your strip bars, in which case you'll need to go directly here)
- Anything with a bouncer or a queue is a bad idea

Cheers
Paul

be sure to visit Cookie on swanston st. Great thai food. Huge beer list (the have alpha pale ale on tap)

Mrs Parma's. Google it.

+1 Not exactly a pub but good food and they had the otway estate farmhouse ale on tap...it was like drinking honey.

edit: in a good way :p
