The issue with the March unit's whirlpool flow - leaving aside the priming discussion - stems at least partly from it using the same pump head as that sold in the US, but running at 50hz not 60Hz power. This means we are getting a lot less head from this pump compared to what is the norm there - and its not proportional to the 10 Hz difference, its worse.
The solution for us is to purchase an impeller designed for the 815 model, and place it in our 809 head - drops straight in.
I have done this - process pumps recommended the solution, and charge about $60 for the part.
This brings the spec up to about the same as an 809 running at 60Hz.
This should provide a better whirlpool, though Andy's comments about the physics are valid.
Still, if you have a few elbows, some length of plumbing and a pump mounted low, like I have, getting any whirlpool at all is a problem, and this should make all the difference for you.
