G'day Folks,

Has anyone used a March 802 Double outlet pump for brewing before?

There is one on ebay for sale and wondering if I should bid (Ebay Link)

Would it be of any use?

Same as these: Here - PDF File

Cheers, Pok

Would there be an advantage to have a double outlet though?

And if not I wonder if you could just turn the other side off.... I guess you could just hook up some water to the other side so it doesnt drive dry.

First thing I thought of was a 3 vessel AG rig all on the same level, you would usually need two pumps. As long as you could isolate one pump from the other, the pdf doesn't specify.

By the looks of it you could disassemble the unit and take the impeller out of the end that you are not using. Not sure of the body is rated for boiling temps like the std brewing 809 is though

would be great for continuous sparge .

Was my thought....flow rate should be perfectly matched

As long as there was the same resistance on both inlets and outlets, but with a couple of valves could be set up very nicley. I think it would be a good buy, you could design a system around it, While recirculating your wort it could also be recirculating your sparge water keeping its temp even. Lots of options.

Sorry for going OT here, but why do you need two pumps for a single tier system?

cheers

Fly Sparge (HLT to MLT and MLT to Kettle simultaneously. HERMS and Recirc HLT for even temp distribution. Pumping Kettle through CFC/Plate chiller and recirc tank water through as well.
Hmmmmm

If you are going to bid, don't bid early.. i see there's been 5 bids since last night & the lister doesn't end for nearly 6 more days. by bidding early, you're only going to drive the price up further. if you wait until just before the end of the auction (remaining 60 seconds), place your bid as high as you are willing to go and/or google eBay snipe, & bid that way. Just trying to help you get it as cheaply as poss.

Again slightly OT, but pumping the water around in your HLT for 'better temp distribution' would also lose a lot of heat out of the system wouldn't it ?

There'd be plenty of times when you only wanted to pump one stream as well, and that would cause problems with the dual head - can't run one side dry.

For the sake of it...I didn't buy it

Figuered if it wasn't rated for hot temps...why bother.

it went for about $130
