From the most recent Malt Shovel periodical

"This month, we here at the Malt Shovel have been feeling not-quite-right. At the end of November, our illustrious Head Brewer, Doug Donelan, is leaving us for greener pastures.

Seriously. Doug will shortly be taking on the position of Chief Executive Officer for NZ Hops Limited."

Rgds,
Peter

I just got this newsletter through too. I bet the Malt Shovel boys will be keeping in touch with Doug in his new role! Might see some more NZ hops used in JS beers... :p ;)

they do some organic hops that seem to sell out VERY quickly
and Doreen is SO helpful, expecting some funky NZ hops anyday soon :)

nz hops are a very good company and love to have squires use those nz hops like southern cross

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see JS get into the NZ hops too! :super: I just mean that they'd be mad not to keep in touch with Doug now that he is heading up the operation. :)

I'd love to see NZ get into some of those great new(ish) American varieties like Amarillo, Simcoe etc. It'd be sweet to have access to whole flowers in these varieties. It always makes me so jealous when I see the range of hop flowers available on most US home brew websites  Wish we could get that sort of variety in Australia!

Hi TD,

I don't think hop flowers are likely to be available in Australia, but these hops are available as pellets though, its just that most are sold in 5kg foils, and only a few HB shops are giving us the choice that we would like.

If there is enough interest I might be able to repack 5kg into 100g vacuum sealed bag (have access to an industrial vacuum packer). The cost would work out to be somewhere around $3.70-$4.00 per 100g bag, plus postage. Its not really worthwhile unless folks buy around 500+g, or get together to save on postage.

Here are some of the varieties available:

Amarillo, Cascade, Centennial, Chinook, Cluster, CZ Saaz, EK Golding, Fuggle, GR Hersbrucker, Golding, Hallertau mf, Mt Hood, Nth Brewer, Palisade, Perle, Simcoe, Spalt Select , Sterling (US Saaz), Styrian Golding, Tettnang, UK Fuggles, Vanguard, Willamette

Sorry for the thread hijack :)
