Im looking to do a SNPA clone that requires a magnum bittering addition. Have called all the usual LHB shops and none of them stock it. Craftbrewer has it listed on their website however I was looking to brew it tonight.
Dont really want to substitute it either.
I have tried Brewers den, G&G and home make it in clayton.
Anyone know somewhere that stocks it?
cheers

husky,

You could try Dave at Greensborough Home Brewing - 9432 0283.

Its listed on his website. Not sure how up to date it is though.

Cheers

AFAIK the last time i got it from him it was german magnum... same same either way in terms of its flavour. Not much difference ive noticed.

If it's only going to be used for bittering, you can probably substitute any appropriate bittering hop, you're going to boil the hell out of it for an hour anyway, so only the isomerised alpha acids (i.e. bitterness) are going to be left, almost all taste compounds will be nuked.

Looking at a hop substitution chart, Liberty and Horizon are meant to be appropriate subs for Magnum.
