Hey all,

To cut to the chase I bought a few different types of liquid lager yeast to try and to be completely honest I'm not sure I'm picking any difference whatsoever between any of them.. which kinda gets me thinking, is it possible alot if not all are actually the same strains being resold as different types?

Different makers certainly offer the same yeast under different names. The classic being 34/70, alone it probably counts toward making half the lager on earth, known as W 2124 and WL830, probably Diamond Lager and several other tags.
Admittedly the difference between Lager yeasts and the range of traits you can get from Ale yeasts is a lot narrower but there are significant differences, It is going to depend a lot on how you use them.
If you were pressure fermenting warm, buy on price, if you are modelling a classic brand of lager it will really matter.
