G'day wondering if 500 g of lactose is too much for 20 Lt of coopers Irish stout?
This is what I've done,
1 can coopers Irish stout
500g of lactose
1kg dark malt
500g dark sugar

Please if anyone knows this I'm really not sure if I've gone over board on the lactose?

Gidday mate, Just done a Coopers Irish Stout a couple of months ago that I bottled.
Only used 250g of lactose. Its come out unreal very happy with it. :chug:

1 can Coopers Irish Stout
1.5 kgs dried wheat malt
Choc malt grain 150g
Dark crystal grain 150g
Lactose 250g
Nottingham yeast.

Regards Darren.

Always a personal thing I suppose but stouts I made with only 200 gms of lactose I found too cloying. Gave it the flick and mucked about with steeping different roasty specialty grains. That oyster thing interests me.Kits make good stout.

Just bottled the stout, I've tasted it so far and as far as I can tell it tastes very much like a coopers best extra stout, this is a good sign as I normally drink the best extra.
I don't usually take an alcohol reading I find if I just swish the left overs round in the bottom of the fermenter and the stronger the alcohol smell the higher the alcohol volume.
I'll get back in a couple of weeks with the verdict.
