Well i finally pulled my finger out and took some photos. Big thanks to BYB for his mig and tig welding. Screwtop for my thousands of questions about setting up my HERMS, Domonsura for some off the bits and pieces. And to anyone else who has helped me along the way. Love having the double keggle it allows 45lt post boil. The mash tun is bottom draining, and the plate chiller usually drops down to 28.c most days.

Cheers KHB

Wow KHB that is one awesome rig. You must be happy with that! I am jealous as hell. Never seen the double keg before really like the idea. Thanks for sharing the BLING!

Happy brewing!

+1 Bang up setup.

Any pics of it fully setup so we can see the HERMS system in action?

I have the same Cam Locks for the Plate Chiller.
What's the adapter you are using for the temp probe on the wort out line ? Looks interesting. Stainless I quess.

Also, what type of hose are you using? Silicon?

The adapter came from beer belly, yes it is a stainless t piece, with a brass thermowell that the thermometer sits in. The hose im using is Helical Wire wound PVC hosing from beer belly too.

Well after a lot of thinking on how i can improve my ramp times of 1.c/2min ive decided to use a 15lt pot for my HERMS which i will put a 2.4KW element in and it will all sit in behind my masrch pump. Pics to follow

Well i brewed again yesterday and took some more photos. Made a double batch of Schwarzbier with homekegger1.

KHB nice set up

The photo of the hop/trub screen is a good shot, im guessing its a beerbelly hop screen? (think i might have to get one)

What burner are you using under the monster keggle?

How are you preheating your HLT, if its electric do you hook it up to the DEI-106H controller?

Looks great

Yes its a beerbelly hop screen, i have a spiral burner under the kettle, i start it on low once wort has covered the hopscreen when sparging and once finished krank it up and normally reach boil in 15mins. The HLT has a 2 KW element in it and i just turn it on and off as needed.

Thought i would post an update, have changed a little mostly being the temp gauge/switch box

med_gallery_4661_191_889953.jpg

And a close up of the box
Yes i know the top controller is crooked!!

Herms is controlled through the top controller, mash tun monitored with middle, and HLT on the bottom.

I have had so much sucess with hitting temps and gravitys since upgrading to HERMS.

Hey mate, can I ask what type of temp monitor you have on your mash tun? Looks perfect for what I need for mine, no need to control temps, just monitor.
Thanks.

Have you had to have installed a 20A-30A power point for all the electrics, pump and heating elements or are you using multiple 10A power outlets?

No the pump and 2KW element run through one outlet and the 2.4KW runs through a seperate one.
