Ive done a couple of all grains....search for Kent Old Brown or KOBA.

Steve, how did they end up turning out? Any luck getting something fairly close. Bit hard to say I guess given that in the rare case that you even find KOBA for sale these days it seems to be nothing like it used to be anyhow!

Great! Done it a few times now. Just like the real thing h34r: but obviously nicer/fresher. Would probably drop the fuggles hop addition.

I made one up before Christmas using 2kg AmberDME 1kg LDME and a Morgans Masterblend (the middle range green can). Pride of Ringwood hops and from memory S 04 yeast. Drinking it now (Aussie Brown). Tastes nothing like a KOBA and I reckon that would be the malt profile. Bitterness okay (not that KOBA is heavily bittered). Its enjoyable to drink anyway but the maltiness from my brew far exceeds the maltiness of the tap beer.

If using AG would think about ale malt and mid range crystal for colour and maltiness.

The late hops you mean? Yeah, I'm sure KOBA doesn't have a late addition. Personally I'd love a bit of fuggles character at the finish, but yeah, wouldn't make it authentic to KOBA I guess.

Anyway, good to hear you had success with them mate. Can you post a couple of versions here? I might have a bit of a stab this winter and wouldn't mind seeing what you went for...
