It was Carawheat bought from Grain & Grape and made up to 23l.
Thanks everyone, your suggestions are good. I have been planning on trying my first cider for a while now so this may be the push I need. Some bottles I will definitely age though; so far I have been ageing each of my beers, even the favourites, to at least six months just to take notes and taste the difference.
In recent tasting news, at a BBQ on Friday I served a pitcher using the WBR beer. It was a blend like this:
1.25l above-mentioned sweet beer
2 x 440ml Heineken cans
It's a 2.5l pitcher. The blend was OK; I found it much more drinkable diluted like this (would have been about 6% ABV). One of the people at the BBQ actually preferred it to the APA we had later, declaring that he has decided he "likes sweet beer".
