Hi all,

Put down my second brew this afternoon - a Coopers Mexican Cerveza with the recommended BE2. Just used the standard kit yeast. Pitched the yeast at around 20-22*C

Now since the yeast dissolved, it has just sat on top of the wort looking like this, it's probably been like that for at least 4hrs now:

Any ideas / tips ?!

Looks fine

I'll relax in future - just weird that the first brew was active alot quicker then this one.

Need to get myself one of those temp guns so I can accurately measure temperature.. I don't believe my stick on one!

Yoda,

Just so you know it can take a day or 2 ...or 3 ...or 4 etc at times for yeast to get going.....4hrs is not much time at all. But if in doubt feel free to ask.

Get yourself a good quality old style thermometer...those gun things are expensive and old school thermometers can't be beaten.

Yoda,

There is one school of thought that says to stir the yeast into the wort,

and give the wort a good lifting stir for 2 or 3 minutes, to expose the

wort to as much oxygen as it can. A well oxygenated wort will help the yeast take off in a hurry.

cheers
