Is Barret Burston Galaxy malt good sub for American 2-row?
The colours are a match but does anyone know how different are they in specs?

Thanks all

Cheers!

BB Galaxy is discontinued but will be replaced new season with a new yet to be named variety , AFAIK. BB ordinary Pilsener is a good sub and would I guess be similar to US two row. Another good sub is Weyermann German Pilsener varieties, which can take up to 30% adjuncts, making them suitable for use with rice or maize, it that's what you are after.

Autumn approacheth :icon_cheers:

Thanks for your reply BribieG.
There are heaps of American craft beer clones floating around on the net and would to brew some of them. The main brands seem to be Briess, Rahr and Great Western.
I'm not planning on using any adjuncts unless the recipes call for them.
So pilsner malts seem to be the go eh?

Cheers

Definitely, Galaxy was a sort of Pilsener on steroids. I believe it was the main malt we exported to the likes of Asahi and other Asian brewers. It had a high diastatic power so it could handle a lot of rice etc. I would imagine the new variety will be similar - pale and high diastatic.

Ross (Craftbrewer) and other suppliers would have more information.
