Hey dudes,

I just bottled an all-grain batch of pale ale - syphoned from a small 5L carboy (i do only small batches at the mo). The beer has a really intense yeast smell (i think its yeast?), which i have also noticed in my last couple batches. It tastes really good, but i'm worried about the smell.

I prematurely opened a previous bottle that had a similar smell whilst bottling it to check it's progress, and it has seemed to of smoothed out, but i'm still concerned i'm doing something insane ....

Anyone have any ideas?

Cheers,
Tom

Perhaps i should have racked the beer of earlier?
9 days in primary fermenter, then bottled ....

Unless you have a lot of dead yeast already in your wort, it shouldn't have too much of an yeasty flavour. I had ferment my wort/beer for 3 weeks in the primary, no yeasty smell of taste at all.
