Ill be picking some hops AND brewing before the weekend. Should dry out the hops or go a fresh "Harvest Ale"? Anyone got experience or preferences?

Brewing a pale right now. Thinking of being experimental (ie lazy) and chucking ALL the hops in the cube. What could possibly go wrong?

I wimped out. 10Ibu in the kettle. The rest in cube! Cleaner kettle and less trub loss im guessing!!

I do all cube hops for my low IBU galaxy ales all the time. Works a charm

I have to have a charge in the kettle for what it adds to the brewing experience, but cube hop every brew as well for variety.

Awesome subtle brett funk coming from the Kilkenny at the local bistro. Was going to say something......but I kind of like it.

Refractometers are much harder to break. Also easier to use.

I have not broken an hydrometer since I got my refractometer, but it still sees use.

At first, I thought I was in love with Citra, then I thought it was the Galaxy.....but no. It's the Chinook giving me dat flavour. Chinook in everything for the next few brews!

Nah not now, but next time pitch heaps of yeast cold. Try 3 packs for dry or 3-4 litres for liquid. Make sure to get the yeast the same temp as wort when you pitch. I put cube and finished starter in 6c fridge onight, pitch then let come up to 8-10.

Keep a hydrometer as backup. It also helps when you forget to take the o.g. Take a refracto and hydro reading at end of ferment and you can work out the starting gravity via calculation/ Beersmith.
