Hi I was speaking to someone the other day who has been brewing for years says he swears by iodine cleaner, he said he rekons he makes better beer since he started to use. Has anyone found this? He reckons it is what the dairies use to clean milking equipment. Anyone had experience with this and better sanitizes. I think this is no rinse, which is what I should be be using, sick of rinsing :) Thanks

iodophor

Iodophor is a mix of Iodine and Phosphoric acid, and has been used extensively in the dairy industry. It is still a favourite for cheese making and is stocked by Brewers Choice for that purpose. There is a slight long-term risk of overdosing on iodine and continued use will result in your fermenter discolouring.

Most on AHB (including myself) recommend Star San for sanitizing. No rinse and a bottle lasts for ages.

OMG, I can OD on iodine? What symptoms should I look for?
