I didn't know that mockbusters existed till I accidentally downloaded "San Andreas Quake", thinking it was the new San Andreas movie.
After about ten minutes I thought "this can't be right, it's a load of total ****". I was so fascinated by the sheer awfulness, the chronic acting and dreadful CGI that I watched it till the end.
I might even download a few more.
For example, characters are on a sunlit street, next shot shows them driving through the rain. The car stops and when they get out the sun is shining and the road is dry... great stuff.
haha. The main culprit is a studio called The Asylum and they churn out heaps of movies with an incredibly low budget, unknown actors and really terrible CGI and put them out just before a genuine blockbuster is released.
They have never lost money on a movie because they can usually swindle enough people into buying or renting it. Apparently Netflix and Blockbuster are compliant in this.
Here's a list showing some of the covers, you'd have to give them ten out of ten for sheer balls.
