Hi all,

Following the delivery of some hops in unknown condition (see Link)

I want to use these to make some sought of Mongrell all in beer... just for the fun of it.

Now I have the following in my possession (Including some left overs I already had)

- 175g Goldings pellets

- 175 g Fuggles pellets

- 25g Saaz pellets

- 25g Hersbrucker pellets

- 25gg Golden Cluster pellets

- 1 x plug of Hallertau

Now my thought was to grab a basic kit, something like a homebrand something... maybe a coopers, and some basic fermentables. and use these hops etc... and actually now that I think about it I also have about 350g of an unknown creamy coloured powder that I was given ages ago by a mate. What exactly I have no idea....

So any suggestions??? Or should i just boil some up and dry hop the rest and see what happens??

Cheers, Pok

P.S Yes I realise most of these ingrediants are probably past their peak... but hey... brewing is for fun hey.

why not go for a hopburst style approach? link

im planning on doing one with Amarillo, Cascade and Centennial but i dont see why you couldnt use all the hops (maybe not fuggles though) as a Mongrel Hopburst?

There are few things worse than hops past their prime when stored improperly... They can make your beer taste pretty rank!

I'd personally steer well clear of them.

hopburst ftw!

that mix you are thinking of sounds great. 50g of each :D

im drinking my last hopburst... 50g cascade + amarillo + golden cluster. so so very nice.

The 'past prime' was the reason i decided not to buy, but Pok did ask for suggestions as he is going to make a batch anyway. hell i'd make a homebrand batch as well for freeloaders.

Maybe just a homebrand batch and if it turns out drinkable winner if not... not too many funds down the drain.

Sorry I may not have been clear. I was meaning a hopburst style in relation to the hops, not the other ingredients.

so:
X tins of goo
50g hopburst mix @ xmin (goldings, Hersbrucker etc)
50g hopburts mix @ ymin
etc
etc etc
