Its time to do my second biab on the weekend and i thought time to prepare a winter beer.
i am hoping that someone on here has ideas on making something in the style of my favourite stout old engine oil.
any advice would be well apreciated

thanks

I don't know too much about this biab method, but hazardong a guess at a beer I haven't drunk for a while, 75% Maris otter, 5% crystal, 10% each chocolate and oats. Mash at 70C, maybe 25IBU and shoot for an og of around 1070. You want it to finish around 1020-24 for that residul body and sweetness. I would go a Scottish ale yeast, and ferment around 16 to 18C.
At a guess, of course.

It's also listed as a commercial example of style in the BJCP guidelines for English Old Ale (or similar)

Might get a few pointers that way also. :)

thanks guys
ihave looked around a bit and come up with the following so far.
400g choc malt
400 wheat
650 oats
5.1 kg marris otter

looking in the guide lines they say to use a british ale yeast anyone got a good recomendation?
also im not sure on the hops so far i can find that the original uses galena, fuggles and ekg. grain and grape dont seem to have galena so i am planning to use just the ekg and fuggles.again not sure of quantitys or boil times. should i use the fuggles for the bittering and ekg for flavor?
any opinions or critiques are more than welcome. :)

thanks dwayne

okay imissed the boat on this one but put a bastardised version of the three shades stout. replaced the target with northern brewer and used marris otter for the base malt. tasted good going into the nc cube hopefully get a chance to ferment it this weekend!
still looking for some help on this one though so as always any help gladly accepted.
