I know, I know its old new news. But I wanted to start a thread that could get hammered with suggestions.
Personally I want a double skin stainless steel growler with a tap like this........ (which I found on another thread)

http://www.drinktanks.com/

I think they're going to get a lot bigger. It's only a matter of time before more than a few Aussies start selling/making them.

Here's what I've found.

http://thezythosproject.com/ .....these look very cool too.

http://www.brew-tek.com/blog/ These guys made the ss growlers for good beer week. Watch em. http://2013.goodbeerweek.com.au/events/view/188/Good+Beer+Week+2013+Official+Growlers+For+Sale...There's still is some single skin ones left.

And off course some accessories.

forgive my massive stupidity, but are growlers normally used to hold already carbonated beer (to drink) or to carbonate in (as in, as a replacement for bottles); or both? i guess you could do whatever right?

Both, but mostly for pre carbonated beer. Quite a few pub/craft breweries are selling for travelers that you can take back for refills. No harm in conditioning in them I'm sure many do.

Ive got 2, one from 2 brothers brewry that's gotta big grolsh like swing top and just the normal 2lt one with screw cap.
I also purchased a growler filler for my keg fridge. Its just a hose I connect to the tap so the growler fills from the bottom up.

I picked up a brew-tek one at good beer week, pretty snazzy, came with a neoprene cooler with a strap, just sling it over my shoulder and ride my push bike to parties and picnics. I only have the single walled one, but the cooler seems to work pretty well anyway. They are also releasing an optional cap which allows you to inject co2 to keep your beer fresh.
One idea I had the other day was to fill my growler from my kegs using my blichmann beer gun, saves having to fill multiple small bottles if i want to take my beer anywhere. The only trouble is trying to remember to take the growler home once I've had two litres of imperial stout.

i bought a whole bunch (more as souvenirs but some filled) from breweries i visited in the U.S. definitely a great idea. i'd love to see more aussie brewpubs get them in too.

I saw the Drinktank one when they had the Kickstarter campaign going and was quite impressed. Main thing I like about it is the optional dispensing lid

Those Keg King ones look pretty good for the price too (might have to get a bulk buy happening when they have them in stock)

I've been very keen to get a hold of the style Brewnut brewing had; From what I've read, a swingtop is much better than a screw cap.
Like the look of the kegking, and the drinktank ones look amazing, but pricey. Downside to an SS growler would be the ability to see the pour though.

I'm grave digging this thread a little here...

Any feedback on the Keg King growlers? The tap upgrade looks good too, any idea when it will be released?

Any other growlers to recommend that weren't available back when this thread was started?
