Hey all, been brewing for a little while now, and starting to think about exploring the idea of growing my own hops, but have no idea which plants to look for, and what kind of conditions are required. Would love some pointers, or even a link to a site which can help.

Cheers,
Sammy

There have been heaps of discussions on growing hops. You need to search for rhizomes which is what you plant (like ginger for example). It may be too late to order some this year. Grumpy's sell them, as well as Stuart in Tasmania. (hopefully somebody else will post his contact details).

There are so many hop varieties. You'd be best off with an aroma hop that you like, something like Cascade, EKG or Hallertau. Maybe have a look in the 2006 Hop plantations thread for loads of info.

Edited to not mislead.
