Hi all,

I need to put a dab of glue to secure a stainless bolt into a perspex sheet - any ideas what I should use?

The options I have at hand are:

Araldite Super Strength
Araldite Quick Set
Loctite 401 (superglue type stuff)
Champion Thread Lock TL262
Parfix GelBond (contact adhesive).

Not sure which (if any) of these will do the trick, and which will just end up making a nasty mess with no strength...

epoxy adheres to acrylic so option 1 would be good.
The cyanoacrylate (superglue) sticks real good too but your clearances have to be tight and could be first choice in the right application.
Just remember that with epoxy, any excess of either part A or B will not take part in the reaction and will just stay in the cured resin as a contaminant, thus weakening the result.

edit: Make sure you abrade the surfaces and degrease your dirty little fingerprints

Thanks Tony, I think I'll go with the Araldite then - it's a reasonably tight fit but it sounds like the Araldite will be more forgiving. FWIW it's rotational force I am trying to resist - the bolt needs to become a fixed stud to which I can attach and remove a nut from the other side without access to the bolt head.

What's best for prepping the acrylic? I've got most of the usual solvents here.

I used to abrade the contact surfaces then clean with acetone
