Just a quick question.

Whats the starting gravity and final gravity of this Fresh Wort Kit?

I've added the 5 litres of water and it comes in as 1.030 (was 1.043 before water added) which is very light for an Amber Ale.

Also, I've suspect I have a problem with my Refractometer and am using the kit as a reference test.

I looked on the web site (NDBrewing) and there is nothng listed.

Thanks in advance

BOG,

I think these kits are about 15ltrs volume??? If that's correct, and you have 15ltrs at 1.043 gravity, then add fresh water (assume 1.00 gravity), then your resulting gravity for the kit would be approx 1.032

It does seem low. Are you sure it is not supposed to be 1.043 once 5 ltrs of water has been added??? You may not have fully mixed in the water and subsequently got a bodgy reading???

FG is hard to say, though i reckon you would probably hit around 1.012-1.015 depending on yeast etc etc.
