Boiled up my first full extract brew on the W/E. I made an APA style:

1.5 kg Morgans Pale Malt
1.5 kg Morgans Extra pale Malt

25g Cascade 60min
12.5g Cascade 30min
12.5g Cascade 10 min
25g Cascade at flame out.

SafeALe Yeast

This was a great new experience. Morgans claims their LME are kettled but their was heaps of hot break- looks disgusting.

One mistake I made was in my haste to get the wort in to the fermenter I poured the lot in hot break, cold break and hops.

Will this do much tot he quality of the beer?

Will racking of to 2ndry be sufficient or should I filter it somehow?

It is fermenting vigortisly at the moment and tastes pretty bloody good so far.

Cheers

Tim

Nah don't worry about it,I did exactly thesame once and couldn't discern a major difference.Wait until all the yeast and trub settles (7 /10 days)and rack as normal.I find that 2 weeks in secondary @ cooler temps will clear it out and it will be really clear at bottling time.
Which saf did u use s04 or us 56?

Good on ya for taking the next step the hop character from a full boil will surprise ya.

Thanks Brauluver,

I think it was 04, I actually reconsituted it from a bottle of Pale Ale I brewed earlier in the year. I also chucked in some trub from a brown ale I had just bottled (Coppers Ale Yeast) I know how will I know which yeast did what?

BTW what is the difference between 04 and 56?
