I brewed my first partial mash last night. At least I think its a partial mash:

Coopers Sparkling Ale Kit
Coopers Wheat liquid Malt Extract
Caramalt
Amarillo Hops

As far as I can tell the instructions say that I can add the third load of hops (15g) to the fermenter when the air lock begins to settle down a bit. Is it likely that the third hopping could introduce an infection to the wort? Any comments or suggestions would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Matt

The hops will be fine - just make sure you sanitise the hop bag.

15g of amarillo seems a bit light on - how many litres of beer are you brewing?

Better still would be to cut the bag open and just tip the hops in (assuming there even is a bag, of course).

Probably not strictly a partial but a fine looking brew none the less - sounds like a very familiar brew, as a matter of fact. Pretty well regarded, I think you'll be right, mtodd.

I was planning to throw the hops in the fermenter without a bag. There were three 15g hoppings for a 23lt wort.

yeah throw them in without bag, they usually settle to the bottom within 3 days, 15 g will be fine.
