Drinking Alcohol while on the Job Survey Results
January 9th, 2006

A report by the University at Buffalo's Research Institute on Addictions (RIA) was published in the current issue of the Journal of Studies on Alcohol says that 15 percent of the US employees have been either intoxicated with alcohol or affected by alcohol while on the job. That is roughly 19.2 million workers.

Does this count turning up after being blind the night before when you still have it in your system?

These figures don't consider those workers who faithfully abstain from alcohol at work because, when mixed with heroin, alcohol can make them vomit.

I quite often grab a six pack to have in the arv at work on fridays! If a customer comes in I just offer them a beer! Most males take it!

Ahh the best part of being the only one in the store! (Kramer currently scampering to the fridge for another!)

I remember working at an office next to a pub. There was always someone from work in there, even if it was for the TAB service.

I once worked with a woman who tried to get all her home visits done by midday, so she could have a smoke (herbal, of course) before returning to work for lunch and her afternoon write-ups (re the home visits).

Then again, clerical work is not so problematic as far as alcohol goes. Unlike working with heavy machinery, or driving a vehicle or performing medical procedures.

i thought it was a given...?!?!?
EVERY friday lunch for me.... usually 3 or 4 pints
(i reckon my AHB activity is always high after 2pm on fridays..!)

Hmmm beer at work.. I remember the days. I was lucky enough to have a pub in the place I worked. And you used to get away with a couple at lunchtime however friday used to get a bit messy. Most fridays no-one returned to work except the most junior from the office.

Those days are long gone now...

btw. I must point at Russia, where beer is not a alcoholic beverage :super:

Zwickel, don't Germans refer to beer as "liquid bread" anyway?

yes we do, your right Fingerlickin_B, especially the southern part of the country, Bavaria.

They are having a 10:00 OClock break, drinking beer in one-litre-glasses, eating Brezel and Weisswurst.

you know why the Bavarians have very long arms?

while they kiss a cow, they want to touch the udder

I am blessed

My missus expects me to have 2-3 beers at the pub after work...

Have yet to tell her about lunch...

So, for us that run microbreweries, drinking on the job is one of the perks. Should we start a thread for those of us in microbreweries that drink tea or coffee on the job :)

Cheers
Pedro

Get real Pedro.
No-one wants to know about your weird habits (ha ha).

Sorry to say that I do drink tea and coffee at the brewery
The fridge is stocked with soft drink (there is one sad beer in the fridge that brad bought back from Kiwi land)

If I started on a keg by myself, I would never get home after work :p

Cheers
Pedro
