Ok all, first off. This is a friend of mine. She is the nicest and kindest i know.

If you agree that this doesnt seem fair then maybe put your view out there via social networks and comments on the aca web page that this shouldnt happen. You never know what kind of response there might be and maybe Vicki can get some assistance to fix the disaster.

Amazing how there is such a small amount of "degrees of separation".

I saw the episode on tv and to be honest my thoughts were that you would have to be pretty silly to engage people such as those to renovate your house and expect a large amount of work for a low amount of money. Wanting to be paid in cash should have rung alarm bells. No doubt there is more to the story than aca chose t show but also the "professionals" that were used were clearly not professionals as their work was more than shoddy.

Hopefully those responsible will come through with the goods that were agreed on.

I feel sorry for her but at the same time many stories on aca or similar are blown out of proportion and one never gets the whole story so I will play the middle ground on this.

Hope she gets it sorted.

Sadly, we have to place so much trust in businesses. For example I'm moving interstate and part of the pain of uprooting is that I am going to now have to place my **** in the hands of a completely new set of people, all over again, after many years of reliable and excellent service from businesses I have grown to trust.

Car mechanic
Doctor
Plumber and lekky
SWMBO's doctor and specialists ( and hairdresser of course)
My cleaning lady boo hoo

plus I'll have to find an honest interstate removalist which will be a huge gamble.

I'd dread to think what it would be like to invite a completely unknown business into my home to rip it apart. I hope the lass gets justice.

At least I won't need my excellent barber of 11 years, I've now got my Vidal Sassoon clipper set.

Edit: I suspect that the unreliability of many - but not all - small businesses has led to the popularity of the mega chains. Say what you like about them, they generally have a good guarantee and returns policy and publish some sort of "ethical" statement. Not that they particularly want to, but they realise that they will get more business by behaving honestly and ethically towards customers (how they treat their suppliers is a different story). However if - hypothetically - Woolies had a removals division I'd probably use them as opposed to putting my stuff in the hands of Dodgy Brothers Night Removalists.

i still cant believe that this has happened
there is a half hour reply from cherie on you tube but i fell asleep half way through as it was so boring.

bribie, the old man should be able to point you in the right direction for most of those once you get there.
he knows most of the mechanics in town as he has only just retired from the trade.

Thanks Barls, I'd forgotten about your old man. While on that subject and sorry to hijack but do you think he could recommend a trustworthy removals company? Might be worth getting it done from your end than our end.
