I have a sticky gas solenoid on my brewery system and I cant find out what will dissolve the gum build up. I have tried Acetone but it doesn't want to go.The valve has caused the system to over shoot mash temps twice now so I need it fixed.I remember when I was a Dental tech that we used some liquid to clean ruby jets on micro torch's but dammed if I can remember that far back.

If it was that long ago it was likely Carbon Tet (very bad stuff), try some Shellite or other white spirit, at a pinch even lighter fluid should do the job, in fact most any light hydrocarbon solvent.

Anything else petroleum based will be your best bet - mineral spirits (white spirit/stoddard solvent) or you could even try a bit of mineral turps. I'd test a little bit first before applying masses of the stuff though.
