Converting Promash .rec Files

Hello Everyone,

I succesfully figured out how to open a .rec file and convert it to an xml file. Before I launch this...does anyone know what the "issues" surrounding this are?

Does Promash have any REAL claim as to why I should NOT do this?

A guy from Brewboard did this about a year ago, getting to the point of having it ready to go, and then the **** hit the fan in the discussion thread on that topic.
Let me try and dig it up, as Jeff Donovan (Promash author) was in on the discussion and I forget the finer points.

I think it is worth it Barry.
Just contact Jeff Donovan, run your ideas past him, get the SDK and go for it.
I think last time a lot of the issues were around how the guy went about it.
AFAIK Jeff doesn't have any issues with my script that takes Promash text file recipes and coverts them to BeerXML so .....

Did you get the SDK? How easy would that be? Im concerned that if I ask I'll let the cat out of the bag....

No I didn't. When I did my conversion util 18 months ago there was no such thing.

Have a read of the Forum at Promash.com and then post your offer to do the conversion work. I'm sure Jeff will at least listen.
