Ok, having a tidy up and in cupboard there is:

Coopers dark ale kit
Tooheys draught kit
.5kg Dextrose
.5kg Maltodextrine
1kg DDME
2 packets of coopers 'irish stout' yeast (whatever that is)

Watcha recon? All in for a brew for xmas? :D Guessing it would take this long to become 'smooth' enough for me to drink.

you really have to ask WHY NOT DO IT and i cant think of a reason id do it as a 46litre batch if you have a big enough fermenter

this sounds a bit like a bribieg special. Go for it. toucan 23L sounds good. I doubt you'd have to wait untill christmas to drink.

To hell with xmas, I reckon it should be right for winter with the amount of fermentables youre putting in. The only thing I wouldn't be doing is putting in that much Maltodextrin, I would use 250/300g at most.

I haven't used the Tooheys draught kit but I have just put a toucan of coopers stout/dark ale down, it's going to be a banging good drink.

Oddly it smells of Christmas pudding.........

SG 1085
