I’m looking at getting a chiller for my beer. What do people prefer and why. I brew 50lt batches. Plate or Emerson

I like immersion just simply because it requires next to no cleaning and shortens the brew day. I struggle to get my finished 21L batch below about 29 degrees though so I just transfer to fermenter and stick it in the fridge to get to pitching temp.

Hey fongas brew. I use a copper IC in a 45lt batch. Easy to clean/sanitise before and after each use. I spray it with the garden hose after use and give it a look over for any crap that might stick. Before use I look it over and hose the dust of it and then sit it into the hot wort at flameout. It drops the temp pretty quick and more so if you recirc the hot wort past the coils. Like chesl73, I generally get the last 5-10 degrees to drop by using the fridge.
