Charming Squire In Brisbane - Galaxy Ale

Hey guys

Has anyone been into the Charming Squire in Brissy and tried the Galaxy Ale?

I was there last week and absolutely loved it...the kind of beer you could sit on your deck in the sun and have a session on!

The brewer is brewing a new batch every 4 days to keep up with the punters thirst!!

Would love to brew something similar one day...any suggestions?

Haven't tried the beer, but I know DrSmurto's golden ale with galaxy subbed in as the hop produces a great beer, I've done that recipe a few times as a K&K and as an extract beer. I can imagine it would be that much better as an all grain.

I have been looking at DrSmurtos GA, as James Squire Golden Ale is a fave of mine.

I have hop pellets, not flowers, will that matter?

I had the Galaxy ale there about two weeks back, not a bad beer but I had hoped for more of that galaxy hop flavor. I'm a bit of a hop head though and it is just about my favourite hop. I like the burst of flavour it can give like in the Stone and Wood Pacific ale.

Hop it big and late in the boil and you can get a glorious hit of passionfruit in your beer.

I was there last Tuesday but they had run out. All the other taps were just the standard James Squire brews so went elsewhere.

I had checked in there on facebook and made a comment that I was disappointed that they had none. Some how the checkin was removed leaving my comments with no context.
