I'm about half way through building a continuous wort hopper, and the latest issue of BYO arrives today with details on building one. Quite different to the approach I was taking, but looks good.
Anyone else had a go at building a continuous wort hopper ?

Beers,
Doc

Good Stuff...
i just subscribed a month ago, so i should expect my first copy today doc..?

So this is the project for your Dogfish Head clone? :p I don't get BYO but I'd be interested to see how to avoid condensation and hops getting 'stuck' if it was a shute delivery.

Cheers.

You maybe lucky.
Take an early mark and rush home to check :p
Worst case you can still have an early start on a brew in this great day (still 40+ degC at my place ATM).

Not yet. I've been holding off until I've got it all sorted.
I had the power supply built before I went off on holiday, and it was driving the motor fine.
After reading the article in BYO, I think I will have a small design change.
Not sure when I going to get to finish it though as I have a couple of very big travelling weeks at work starting tomorrow.

Doc

Doing a job at Newcastle Uni over the next couple of weeks.
Most days I'll be comuting, but I plan to stay at least one night in Newie to catchup with a few of the brewers up there.

Stupid question, but what is a continuous wort hopper?

I believe it is a device to add hops automatically to the wort for large hopped beers were the hops are added almost every minute.
i think.

Yep, you are on to it Andrew.
Dogfish Head 60, 90 and 120 minute IPA's are hopped continuously for the 60, 90 and 120 minutes of the boil. Hence an automated device.

Doc

Edit: Spelling

Home-made craft beer perhaps?

doc you will never be at one with your beer if you rely on a machine to do the work for you.

Leading us to the question (probably for another thread), who else makes their own sausages - the perfect companion to a good beer :)
