Bottling

Hi everyone,this my first attempt at home brewing beer and am wanting to know should i leave the lid on my fermenter with the airlock in when i start filling my bottles,or should i remove the lid,probably sounds a silly question but i dont want to stuff up my first batch.any info would grateful johnnyk

Loosen the lid but leave it sitting on top of the fermenter so that air can enter through the seal. If you don't loosen it the contents of your air lock will fairly quickly be sucked into your fermenter and beer as you bottle.
