I actually use both.
As already pointed out the PET bottles are really good for transporting, I have had no problems with carbination or flavour issues.
The other advantage is that you can gauge the level of carbination with them depending on how tight they get.
Its a good way to avoid bottle bombs, if you do at least a few PET ones per batch.
